Zombieland has become a cult classic over the past 10 years. Now it seems that a follow-up to the 2008 film is in the works.
Writing duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been hard work with writing Deadpool 2. During a press junket, Wernick revealed they have also been working on the Zombieland sequel.
“We’re going on the tenth anniversary of Zombieland. Zombieland came out October of 2009. We don’t know what you get someone for their tenth anniversary, but it may be a Zombieland 2. The hope is that we’re shooting that thing early 2019 for an October of ’19 release, with the original cast, by the way.”
The original film directed by Ruben Fleischer earned $102.4 million on a $23.6 million budget. Sony has not made an official announcement on the project.
Fans are hoping that the ensemble of Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson return to the project.
