Top Gun Sequel Pushed Back A Year

Tom Cruise’s Top Gun sequel is been officially moved.

Top Gun: Maverick was originally set to hit theaters on July 12, 2019. Now the movie will instead be released on June 26, 2020. Paramount announced move was due to technical issues pushing back production.

This might be a great move for the film to get out the crowded 2019 July slot. Spider-Man: Far from Home will be released on July 5th. Followed by the live action version of Disney’s The Lion King on July 19th.

Director Joesph Kosinski gave some details on what fans can expect for the sequel.

“The navy is very different now than it was in 1986,” said Kosinski. “It’s just a different world now, so you can’t remake the first movie. It has to adapt, [but] I certainly want to re-create the experience of that movie, which gives you a front seat into the world of naval aviation and what it’s like to be in a fighter jet.”

Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled for release on July 12, 2019.
