New Line Cinema released the first trailer for Shaft. Samuel L. Jackson is returning to the Shaft franchise after 20 years. This time around Jackson will be joined not only by Richard Roundtree but Jessie T. Usher the youngest Shaft.
Richard Roundtree starred in the original 1971 film Shaft and its two sequels. Jackson rebooted the series in 2000 while playing Richard‘s nephew. Now Usher joins the cast as Jackson’s son, as a young cyber expert FBI agent who, despite being estranged from his father, is forced to work with him on a case. It becomes a collision between old school and new school.
The Shaft reboot has a script by black-ish creator Kenya Barris, and will star Samuel L. Jackson in the role of John Shaft, who in 2000 played the nephew of the New York City private eye first seen in the Gordon Parks-directed 1971 action classic.
The 2000 reboot directed by John Singleton made $104 million at the boxoffice.
