Disney planned to release a new Star Wars movie every year until 2030. Now it seems that the studio has plans to reevaluate the plan after Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker.
During an interview with EW, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy spoke about the future of Star Wars films.
“We’re going to take a hiatus for a couple of years,” Kennedy told the publication. “And we’re taking the time to really look at where this is going from the standpoint of a saga.”
Disney was trying to use the same strategy used by Marvel with their films. This approach has not been so well received with the spinoff movies outside of Rogue One.
Disney does plan to continue adding Star Wars properties to their Disney + service.
