Ready Player One Details Revealed

Published

on

Steven Speilberg’s live-action adaption of Ready Player One is almost here. The movie is based on the pop culture filled 2011 novel by Ernest Cline. In the book, an ex-genius tech CEO James Halliday sets up a quest for users of the OASIS to find all of the hidden keys to winning his fortune. Halliday’s love for the 80’s fills the Hunt for Halliday’s Eggs as players search the endless worlds to find clues.

Speilberg spoke to EW about life in the OASIS for characters.  “There are so many more compelling reasons to escape into the OASIS than exist in real life,” Spielberg tells EW “A lot of our movie is a comparative study: Which world would they rather spend their lives in — with all the distractions and complexities and perks of the digital world of the OASIS, or with the responsibilities of being a student or a parent living in real life? It’s real life versus virtual life. Which is more compelling?”

Olivia Cookes provided even further details on why people choose the VR world of OASIS in 2049.

“We’re starting to see people are more locked into their phones than looking up and interacting with people,” Cooke says. “In 2045, there is world famine, there is world war, and the cost of a plane ticket, travel, and of living life to a high standard in reality has gotten so exorbitant that the only form of escape for them is to log into an alternate reality. “

Tye Sheridan who plays Wade Watts also spoke about the difference between his avatar character Parzival and Wade.

“[Parzival] is a bit more confident than Wade. It’s a nice little contrast between who he is in the OASIS and who he is in the real world,” the actor says. “When we first meet Parzival, he wins the first race and his avatar becomes this celebrity within the OASIS. But [Wade] is an outcast and an underdog in the real world, and no one knows that he’s actually Parzival. It’s almost like a Clark Kent thing, where he’s someone super, but no one knows about it.”

Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, TJ Miller, Lena Waithe, and Mark Rylance

Ready Player One is set to arrive in theaters on March 30, 2018

Netflix Announces New Series From Kick Ass Creator

Published

on

Netflix is ready for their own comic book franchise.

The streaming company announced a new deal series and movie deal with Mark Millar. Millar is the creator of Kick Ass, KingsmanJupiter Legacy, and Empress to name a few.

The announcement comes a year after Netflix acquired Millar’s comic book publishing company Millarworld in August 2017. Since then, the streaming platform has been developing two series based on his work called Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus as well as three movies: EmpressHuck, and Sharkey The Bounty Hunter.

“My wife Lucy and I are eleven months into our jobs at Netflix and it’s everything we hoped for to the power of ten,” Millar says in a press release. “To see a movie based on your work every couple of years is incredibly exciting, but to see them all happening at once like this and with talent this high-end is just off the scale. These are writers and directors I’ve privately been sending fan-mail to over the last eighteen months so to be working with them all is just enormously exciting. This really is the greatest creative environment I’ve ever worked in. I can’t wait to switch on my computer every morning.”

Aquaman Star Says Movie Is Like A Star Wars Film Underwater

Published

on

DC is hoping that Aquaman will not only save the day but jumpstart a new solo franchise.

The film recently was shown to test audiences and Warner Bros. execs. If early reports are to be believed, fans can expect an epic movie. In a recent interview with Collider, Jason Momoa compared the film to a Star Wars movie.

“I mean, that was definitely one of the amazing moments when James [Wan] told me, cause, I mean, I love Romancing the Stone-I grew up with my mother. I wasn’t watching Conan The Barbarian, I was watching Casablanca and Gone with the Wind and Rear Window and Romancing the Stone,” said Momoa, “So, I loved those movies, what I grew up with, and obviously Raiders. It’s like Star Wars, it’s just a world we haven’t seen before. And, I think the bickering between the two of them [Aquaman and Mera] and also when they slowly start to enjoy each other and fall in love, I think it’s just a timeless story that’s just fun.”

The Justice League vet also spoke about some of the underwater effects in the movie.

“I love the fact that we haven’t been underwater and, like, what we showed at Comic-Con was just showing that it’s gonna be like, when the shit hits the fan it’s gonna be like Star Wars underwater-it’s cool! I’m a huge fuckin’ Star Wars fan and I’ll never be anything remotely as good as Indiana Jones, but we can sure as fuck try! [laughs] I mean, like, I’ll never ever, ever beat him, but if we’re modeling after that, then, great, I’ll do my best. It’s something good to strive for.”

Aquaman will be in theaters December 21.

Taron Egerton Saves The Day In New Robinhood Trailer

Published

on

Lionsgate signed Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx on for a new take on Robin Hood.

Director Otto Bathurst promises an origin story unlike anything we have seen in Robin Hood.

“You don’t become a legend for 800 years if you’ve just stolen a few bags of money from rich people to give to the poor. In my mind, Robin Hood was this sort of seriously militarized anarchist revolutionary, a freedom thinker and a truth seeker. And the more I got into the story, it just became startling how utterly relevant it is to what’s going on in society now.”

Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.

Robin Hood comes to theaters November 21.
