James Cameron is hoping that the new Terminator film will return the franchise to glory after a 37-year drought. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will be returning to the new dystonia setting after the events of T2: Judgement Day.
“We’re calling it, Terminator: Dark Fate,” Cameron reveals. “That’s our working title right now.”
Cameron hired Deadpool director Tim Miller reignite the franchise after a couple of bad installments.
“We’re developing a new Terminator film. And the Terminator films are all about artificial intelligence. But I would say we’re looking at it differently than when I wrote the first story in 1982,” he explained.
“That was just your classic ‘technology bad, smart computers bad’ kind of thing. Nowadays though — it’s got to be a much more nuanced perspective. So its ‘Smart computers bad… BUT…’ That’s the new motif.”
