Netflix Developing Material Arts Series With Raid Star Iko Uwais

Netflix promised to spend over 7 billion dollars on original content. Now the studio has announced Wu Assassins, a crime drama set in San Francisco starring Iko Uwais.

Uwais will star as Kai Jin, by day an aspiring chef, and in his dual life he is a Wu Assassin tasked with confronting the powerful members of an ancient triad and bringing them to justice in order to “restore balance once more.”

Uwais, featured in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will both star and serve as lead martial arts choreographer and stunt coordinator on the new series. He’ll play Kai Jin, an aspiring chef who becomes the latest assassin in a long-running battle between good and evil. It’s set in San Francisco’s famous Chinatown.

Netflix did not give a premiere date for the series.
