The Tom Thibodeau era is over in Minnesota.
The firing happened after the Wolves’ 108-86 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The team is 11th in the Western Conference with a 19-21 record, including 14-6 at home. ESPN.com’s Adrian Wojnarowski detailed the events of the firing.
“We would like to thank Tom for his efforts and wish him all the best,” Taylor said in a statement. “These decisions are never easy to make, but we felt them necessary to move our organization forward.”
Assistant coach Ryan Saunders will take over for Thibodeau on an interim basis. Saunders is the son of former Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders.
