Michael B. Jordan And Warner Bros Unveil New Diversity Policy

Published

on

Michael B. Jordan is making a big impact for diversity behind the scenes with Warner Bros.

“The WarnerMedia family has introduced an approach that accomplishes our shared objectives, and I applaud them for taking this enormous step forward,” Jordan said. “I’m proud that our film, Just Mercy, will be the first to formally represent the future we have been working toward, together. This is a legacy-bearing moment.”

The goal is to ensure that all creative endeavors under the WarnerMedia roof go the extra mile to consider diversity and inclusion goals when staffing for positions in front of and behind the camera. WarnerMedia has pledged to issue an annual report examining the diversity stats for all of its productions in an effort to establish benchmarks to measure future progress.

“Inclusivity has always been a no-brainer for me, especially as a black man in this business,” Jordan said. “[But] it wasn’t until Frances McDormand spoke the two words that set the industry on fire — inclusion rider — that I realized we could standardize this practice. It allowed me to formally pledge my production company, Outlier Society, to a way of doing business.”

The initiative is a priority for new WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey.

“The core values of the WarnerMedia companies are built on doing innovative work in a manner that respects our creative partners, their aspirations and their individuality,” said Stankey. “I am proud of the progress that the leaders of our businesses have made, and we believe this is the next logical step to improve our content and cement our leadership in contributing to positive change in the industry.”

The Stakes Are High In The First Trailer For ‘The Informer’

Published

on

Aviron Pictures has released the first trailer for their upcoming thriller The Informer.

In the film, honorably discharged Special Ops soldier Pete Koslow’s (Joel Kinnaman) world is turned upside-down when he is jailed after a fight to protect his wife (Ana de Armas). He’s given a chance for early release by becoming an informant for the FBI (Academy Award nominees Rosamund Pike and Clive Owen) and using his covert skills in an operation to take down The General, the most powerful crime boss in New York. But when the FBI sting meant to finally earn Koslow his freedom results in the death of an undercover NYPD cop, Koslow finds himself caught in the crossfire between the mob and the FBI. The General insists Koslow takes the heat and sends him back to prison to spearhead a drug operation from inside, and the FBI affirms that going back to jail to do The General’s bidding is the only way for Koslow to keep his deal with them alive.

The Informer hits theaters March 22, 2019. Joel Kinnaman stars with Rosamund Pike, Clive Owen, Common, and Ana de Armas.
