During Yahoo’s Chris B Haynes podcast Durant expressed that he wanted to get as much money as possible.
“I just want to make sure I get as much money as I can on my next deal so I can stack up my money and figure it out,” Durant said. “That’s the plan: play basketball and stack money.”

According to Business Insider reports, after winning last year’s NBA title the 29-year-old signed a two-year contract with the team that pays him $25 million for this 2017-2018 season. That figure is $1.5 million less than he made the previous year, and $9.5 million less than he was eligible to receive. The pay cut allowed the Warriors to keep Iguodala and Shaun Livingston.
Klay Thompson has said that he was willing to take pay cut to keep help the team keep Durant. But it’s possible for other suitors to offer KD $40 million a year.
