Kevin Durant: Seattle Deserves A Team

Published

on

Kevin Durant wants to see the NBA create an expansion team for Seattle.

The OKC Thunder were was the Seattle Supersonics. It’s been ten years since the fans of Seattle had a team of their own. The two-time NBA Finals MVP spoke to ESPN about the possibility of Seattle having a team.

“For sure,” Durant told ESPN. “Most definitely. It’s a basketball city. It’s a sports town. … They have a good representation of basketball in the NBA from Seattle-born players, Washington state-born players. And I feel like that whole brand deserves an NBA team. Just like the Golden State Warriors deserve a team or the Los Angeles Lakers deserve a team, Seattle is that same way. [A team] has that same type of impact in the community. So [we have] a lot of time in life before this whole thing is over, and I’m sure we’ll see a team before it’s time.”

The Seattle SuperSonics selected Durant with the second pick in the 2007 draft. He played one season in Seattle before new owner Clay Bennett moved the team to Oklahoma City and named it the Thunder.

Klay Thompson: We Want To Three Peat

Published

on

The Golden State Warriors are spending their last year in Oakland before moving to San Franciso.

The Dubs have won 3 of the last 4 championships. Warriors guard Klay Thompson wants the Warriors to win a three peat before the team leaves the Bay.

“We want to do it for the fans of Oakland. Been so loyal to us for 40-plus years, whatever it’s been since they’ve been in Oracle. So that definitely helps with this season.” said Thompson “It’s leaving a big legacy behind in Oakland because people might not get to see us as much in San Francisco. And just enjoying this every night.”

“We have such a special group. We play in front of such amazing fans. And every game is so much fun because it’s such an amazing atmosphere. It’s not like we’re playing in front of six or seven thousand people a night. It’s sold out. It doesn’t matter who we play, preseason, Finals. It’s easy to come to work when you’ve got a fan base like we have.”

History also figures to be a motivating factor since the 2000-02 Los Angeles Lakers with Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant was the only team to accomplish the feat since Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls did so twice in the 1990s.

Anthony Davis ended the 2017-2018 season third in the MVP race.

This year AD has the clear goal in mind to win his first ever MVP trophy. In an interview with The Jump‘s Rachel Nichols, Davis explained why he considers himself the best player in the NBA today.

“Honestly, I see myself as the best player in the league, the most dominant player in the league,” Davis said. “I just think it’s time for that step. You only get a short window, and I don’t want that window to close, so I think my time is now.”

When Nicholas brought up Kevin Durant and Lebron James, AD gave props to both players.

“Don’t get me wrong, those two are great players. But, I don’t think—um—I bring something unique to the table. My game is different than both of those guys. Both ends of the floor. Both MVP candidate and Defensive Player of the Year candidate. So that’s why I feel like my name should be at the top of that list.”

Davis ended last season with  28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.
