James Harden arrived at Toyota Center for Game 2 against the Jazz wearing a chain honoring his late friend Nipsey Hussle.
Harden scored 32 points and recorded a triple-double in the Rockets’ 118-98 win, Harden talked about the importance of his chain.
“That name will never die. People will remember him,” Harden said. “I’m just here because he’s one of my close friends. Like, this journey that I’m on is for him, plain and simple,” Harden said. “That name Nip. Everybody knows that name now. I’m just another person helping that name live on.”

“He was powerful, not just to a certain dynamic or to a certain city, but just to the world,” Harden said a few days after the rapper’s murder. “He was a leader. He was so many things and his life got taken away off nonsense, off BS. So, it’s been sad, man. I think, not only myself, but a lot of people around this world were affected by it. It doesn’t seem real.”
