J. Cole’s ‘KOD’ Officially Goes Platinum

J.Cole has another Platinum album on his hands with KOD.

The Dreamville CEO’s KOD album officially sold more than 1 million units as of Dec. 5, marking his third full-length project to go platinum with no features. (We’re, of course, not counting the guest appearance by Cole’s alter-ego “Kill Edward,” who was credited on “The Cut Off” and “Friends.”)

When the 12 track LP launched it sold over  397,000 equivalent album units in its first week debuting at number 1.

Chart Data confirmed the accolade Thursday, exactly eight months after KOD was released, and about seven months after it was certified gold.

KOD also broke the first-day streaming records on Apple Music and Spotify when it was released. The title track “KOD” has managed 4.2 million U.S streams in its opening day on the Spotify streaming service, according to chart data.
