The First Trailer For The Predator Reboot Has Arrived

Published

on

The Predator franchise has new life thanks to director Shane Black’s new film. The film is bringing the series back to Earth and will have some tie-ins to the original film. Though the film takes place between Predator 2 and 2010’s Predators.

The Predator will tackle the idea of genetic mutation: “From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.”

Back in October star Thomas Jane provided the first details on the reboot.“They’re going to take that bus, drive it down to a ditch and shoot us all just to get rid of this one guy,” Jane explained, via AVP Galaxy. “But, of course, we take the bus over. We’re all like, ‘Let’s go kill these f***ing Predators ourselves! And we’re just crazy enough to believe that this guy really did see a UFO and there’s these aliens out there. So that’s kinda cool!”

The film also stars Boyd Holbrook (NarcosLogan), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key (KeanuKey & Peele), Sterling K. Brown (The People v. OJ Simpson), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), and Jacob Tremblay (Room).

The Predator comes to theaters August 3.

Marvel head Kevin Feige said Black Panther 2 will happen whenever director Ryan Coogler is ready. It seems that critically acclaimed director is ready to return to his billion dollar franchise.

According to a report by Metro, Coogler is already in the process of drafting script for the sequel.

“Ryan Coogler is currently mapping out Black Panther’s sequel and has written in a number of new characters that movie-goers will be introduced to when it premieres,” said the source, according to Metro. “One of those characters, if he gets his wish, will be played by Childish Gambino. Nothing is set in stone but ‘informal talks’ [are happening] between Ryan, Gambino and reps from Marvel and Disney to see if they can make it happen.”

He’s also reportedly in talks with his longtime collaborator, Michael B. Jordan, to return for the sequel as well.

“They’re still yet to decide if Michael B. Jordan will return in some capacity but if he doesn’t it’s likely Gambino may play some kind of villain,” said the source.

But it would be hard for Marvel to justify the return of Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, after the events of part one.
