Exclusive Interview: Get To Know Rising Bronx Artist Jon Swaii

What is your name and what city do you rep?
My name is Jon swaii, my city is the Bronx Nyc.

Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?
My latest release is piece by piece, I was inspired by my grind, thinking about how I’m putting everything together step by step pushed me to create that song.

What is unique about you and your music?
My music is raw, it all comes from a place of trial and error, I put myself in every song.

What shaped your music?
My environment has shaped my music more then anything else in my life. It has shown me some major highs and lows.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?
I realized at 19, music was the only career I wanted to focus on. At 19 my daughter was born, I decided during her first few months, either I take this very serious or leave it alone.

What type of music do you listen to?
As a producer also, my mind has opened up to genres I never expected to enjoy. From old soul music, to some blues and country music. I try to listen to everything.

What inspires you to write music?
My biggest inspiration to write is every real life scenario that I’ve been through, I’ve learned to reflect on moments in my life, big or small & create music based off that.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?
My biggest passions aside from music is marketing, I’ve been learning the ins and outs of how to get consumers eyes on merchandise

Happiness to you is…
Happiness to you is… happiness is being completely financially free & my family being able to be free from worrying about money.

What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?
When I first started, I wish I would’ve known how important the marketing aspect of music is. I believed for the longest that talent was all someone needed to succeed. Talent is always an objective thing.

Tell us about your upcoming projects…
I have a project I’m working on that is a 7 track EP, this EP will be coming out alongside a short movies.
