Dwayne Wade almost walked away from the game of basketball during one of the most historic runs of his career.
During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the Miami Heat future Hall Of Famer spoke about contemplating retirement earlier in his career. Wade said he came close during the Heat Championship run with Lebron James and Chris Bosh.
“It was a time where I didn’t want to do it anymore,”
“My knees were in so much pain,” Wade continued. “In my right knee, I had two sets of different bone bruises. I also had chondromalacia under the kneecap, which irritates the kneecap to the extent where it’s just more pain. In my left knee, I had three surgeries, so I’m dealing with arthritis. I’m dealing with swelling and all the stuff that comes with that.”
The Miami Heat made it to the NBA Finals four times with the Big 3. Winning two back to back titles even with Wade’s knee problems.
