The Utah Jazz faced a sweep by the Houston Rockets going into Monday night’s game. Jazz star Donovan Mitchell was hearing none of that and saved the series behind his performance.
Mitchell finished with 31 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
“I’m not trying to go home,” Mitchell told ESPN after scoring 19 of his game-high 31 points in the fourth quarter. “I’m not trying to watch the rest of these games from the couch.”
Mitchell had high praise for his teammates. Jae Crowder added 23 points in support. Ricky Rubio tallied a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists.
“Forget me,” Mitchell told TNT’s Allie LaForce. “Jae Crowder played his ass off. We all have been struggling with the shot all series. He came ready to play, and we followed that. He’s the heart and soul of that team.”
