Bryan Singer Speaks Out Being Fired From Queens Biopic

Published

on

Fox announced that Bryan Singer was terminated from the Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.  The director was accused of getting into heated confrontations with star Rami Malek and acting unprofessionally in taking prolonged absences from the set. When production has halted Dec. 1, the studio cited the “unexpected unavailability” of the filmmaker. Singer spoke out about these claims.

“Bohemian Rhapsody is a passion project of mine. With fewer than three weeks to shoot remaining, I asked Fox for some time off so I could return to the U.S. to deal with pressing health matters concerning one of my parents. This was a very taxing experience, which ultimately took a serious toll on my own health. Unfortunately, the studio was unwilling to accommodate me and terminated my services. This was not my decision and it was beyond my control…

“Rumors that my unexpected departure from the film was sparked by a dispute I had with Rami Malek are not true. While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving.”

Rami Malek stars as Freddy Mercury and his Queen bandmates (played by Gwilym Lee (Guitarist, Brian May), Ben Hardy (Drummer, Roger Taylor) and Joseph Mazzello (bassist, John Deacon) recreate the group’s now-legendary 1985 Live Aid set at London’s Wembley Stadium, a moment guitarist Brian May once called, “the greatest day of our lives.

There is no word yet on who will step in to fill in for Singer.

on

Aviron Pictures has released the first trailer for their upcoming thriller The Informer.

In the film, honorably discharged Special Ops soldier Pete Koslow’s (Joel Kinnaman) world is turned upside-down when he is jailed after a fight to protect his wife (Ana de Armas). He’s given a chance for early release by becoming an informant for the FBI (Academy Award nominees Rosamund Pike and Clive Owen) and using his covert skills in an operation to take down The General, the most powerful crime boss in New York. But when the FBI sting meant to finally earn Koslow his freedom results in the death of an undercover NYPD cop, Koslow finds himself caught in the crossfire between the mob and the FBI. The General insists Koslow takes the heat and sends him back to prison to spearhead a drug operation from inside, and the FBI affirms that going back to jail to do The General’s bidding is the only way for Koslow to keep his deal with them alive.

The Informer hits theaters March 22, 2019. Joel Kinnaman stars with Rosamund Pike, Clive Owen, Common, and Ana de Armas.
