Breaking News: Gambit Movie Set for February 2019

Published

on

The long gestating X-men spinoff, Gambit, finally has a release date. After many false starts and over 3 years of troubled pre-production time. The film has finally been given a solid release date. At this time ’22 Jump Street’ and ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ star, Channing Tatum appears to still be attached to the project. Channing Tatum, who has been attached to play Remy LeBeau/Gambit since 2014

The film is officially slated for February 14th 2019. The plot for the film was released early in September for the Mutant heist movie.

Remy Lebeau (Channing Tatum) is on trial in New-Orleans. He’s considered a huge security risk. We flashback to almost 25 years before. Master thief Luke Lebeau runs into eight-year-old Gambit while doing a heist. Impressed by his skills, he offers to take the mutant orphan under his wings. Raised alongside other strays he calls “cousins”, the teenage Gambit becomes the superstar of the Thief Guild. He encounters Bella Donna Boudreaux while on the run from the police. Sparks immediately fly since Bella is also a fellow mutant. Their love is directly prohibited by both families since the Boudreaux are sworn enemies of the Lebeau clan. Deciding to unite the two sides, Remy offers to have the two clans team up on a HUGE heist to profit both families. Of course, the whole plan goes awry, and in the chaos, Maryanne Boudreaux shoots and kill Luke Lebeau.

We jump to 10 years later; Gambit is hired to do a job in Paris to steal something from the Louvre Museum. It was apparently a test job to see if he still has it. His mysterious employer is revealed to be Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mr. Sinister. He offers Gambit 40 million to recover a mysterious trunk that was stolen by the Boudreaux clan. It will be auctioned off during the yearly Thieves Ball where all the criminal organizations in the world meet up. It uses New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations as a cover. Gambit decides to enlist a crew of mutants to pull off this seemingly impossible heist.

No actors have been announced to join the cast.

WATCH: Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot Trailer Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Jonah Hill

Published

on

Amazon released the first look at Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, a biopic of sorts from Gus Van Sant that stars Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara and Jack Black. The streaming service already has set a May 11 release in select theaters.

Phoenix plays John Callahan, a Portland slacker and drunk who almost dies in a car accident at age 21, becoming a quadriplegic. After he reluctantly enters AA, and with encouragement from his girlfriend (Mara) and a charismatic sponsor (Hill), Callahan discovers a gift for drawing edgy, irreverent (and definitely not PC) newspaper cartoons that get published in Portland’s alt-weekly Willamette Week. They soon develop a national following, and grant him a new lease on life.

Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot will premiere at this month’s Sundance Film Festival and open in theaters May 11.

New Tomb Raider Shows Off Lara Croft’s Backstory

Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for the Tomb Raider reboot starring Alicia Vikander. The film will feature a younger version of Lara Croft focusing on her first adventure as the Tomb Raider.

Warner Bros. has also released the official plot:

Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen.  Now a young woman of 21 without any real focus or purpose, Lara navigates the chaotic streets of trendy East London as a bike courier, barely making the rent, and takes college courses, rarely making it to class.  Determined to forge her own path, she refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone.

Advised to face the facts and move forward after seven years without him, even Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death.Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her dad’s last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.  But her mission will not be an easy one; just reaching the island will be extremely treacherous.  Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown.  If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb.

Tomb Raider comes to theaters March 2018.
