Breaking News: Gambit Movie Set for February 2019

Published

on

The long gestating X-men spinoff, Gambit, finally has a release date. After many false starts and over 3 years of troubled pre-production time. The film has finally been given a solid release date. At this time ’22 Jump Street’ and ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ star, Channing Tatum appears to still be attached to the project. Channing Tatum, who has been attached to play Remy LeBeau/Gambit since 2014

The film is officially slated for February 14th 2019. The plot for the film was released early in September for the Mutant heist movie.

Remy Lebeau (Channing Tatum) is on trial in New-Orleans. He’s considered a huge security risk. We flashback to almost 25 years before. Master thief Luke Lebeau runs into eight-year-old Gambit while doing a heist. Impressed by his skills, he offers to take the mutant orphan under his wings. Raised alongside other strays he calls “cousins”, the teenage Gambit becomes the superstar of the Thief Guild. He encounters Bella Donna Boudreaux while on the run from the police. Sparks immediately fly since Bella is also a fellow mutant. Their love is directly prohibited by both families since the Boudreaux are sworn enemies of the Lebeau clan. Deciding to unite the two sides, Remy offers to have the two clans team up on a HUGE heist to profit both families. Of course, the whole plan goes awry, and in the chaos, Maryanne Boudreaux shoots and kill Luke Lebeau.

We jump to 10 years later; Gambit is hired to do a job in Paris to steal something from the Louvre Museum. It was apparently a test job to see if he still has it. His mysterious employer is revealed to be Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mr. Sinister. He offers Gambit 40 million to recover a mysterious trunk that was stolen by the Boudreaux clan. It will be auctioned off during the yearly Thieves Ball where all the criminal organizations in the world meet up. It uses New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebrations as a cover. Gambit decides to enlist a crew of mutants to pull off this seemingly impossible heist.

No actors have been announced to join the cast.

Netflix Announces New Series From Kick Ass Creator

Netflix is ready for their own comic book franchise.

The streaming company announced a new deal series and movie deal with Mark Millar. Millar is the creator of Kick Ass, KingsmanJupiter Legacy, and Empress to name a few.

The announcement comes a year after Netflix acquired Millar’s comic book publishing company Millarworld in August 2017. Since then, the streaming platform has been developing two series based on his work called Jupiter’s Legacy and American Jesus as well as three movies: EmpressHuck, and Sharkey The Bounty Hunter.

“My wife Lucy and I are eleven months into our jobs at Netflix and it’s everything we hoped for to the power of ten,” Millar says in a press release. “To see a movie based on your work every couple of years is incredibly exciting, but to see them all happening at once like this and with talent this high-end is just off the scale. These are writers and directors I’ve privately been sending fan-mail to over the last eighteen months so to be working with them all is just enormously exciting. This really is the greatest creative environment I’ve ever worked in. I can’t wait to switch on my computer every morning.”

Aquaman Star Says Movie Is Like A Star Wars Film Underwater

Published

DC is hoping that Aquaman will not only save the day but jumpstart a new solo franchise.

The film recently was shown to test audiences and Warner Bros. execs. If early reports are to be believed, fans can expect an epic movie. In a recent interview with Collider, Jason Momoa compared the film to a Star Wars movie.

“I mean, that was definitely one of the amazing moments when James [Wan] told me, cause, I mean, I love Romancing the Stone-I grew up with my mother. I wasn’t watching Conan The Barbarian, I was watching Casablanca and Gone with the Wind and Rear Window and Romancing the Stone,” said Momoa, “So, I loved those movies, what I grew up with, and obviously Raiders. It’s like Star Wars, it’s just a world we haven’t seen before. And, I think the bickering between the two of them [Aquaman and Mera] and also when they slowly start to enjoy each other and fall in love, I think it’s just a timeless story that’s just fun.”

The Justice League vet also spoke about some of the underwater effects in the movie.

“I love the fact that we haven’t been underwater and, like, what we showed at Comic-Con was just showing that it’s gonna be like, when the shit hits the fan it’s gonna be like Star Wars underwater-it’s cool! I’m a huge fuckin’ Star Wars fan and I’ll never be anything remotely as good as Indiana Jones, but we can sure as fuck try! [laughs] I mean, like, I’ll never ever, ever beat him, but if we’re modeling after that, then, great, I’ll do my best. It’s something good to strive for.”

Aquaman will be in theaters December 21.

Taron Egerton Saves The Day In New Robinhood Trailer

Lionsgate signed Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx on for a new take on Robin Hood.

Director Otto Bathurst promises an origin story unlike anything we have seen in Robin Hood.

“You don’t become a legend for 800 years if you’ve just stolen a few bags of money from rich people to give to the poor. In my mind, Robin Hood was this sort of seriously militarized anarchist revolutionary, a freedom thinker and a truth seeker. And the more I got into the story, it just became startling how utterly relevant it is to what’s going on in society now.”

Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.

Robin Hood comes to theaters November 21.
