Marvel was hinting to Thanos for over ten years in various films. The Mad Titan finally appeared Avengers: Infinity War to collect all of the Infinity Stones and to destroy half of the universe.
His mission may have caused the MCU’s ultimate villain more than he bargained for according to director Joe Russo.
During the bonus features for the movie’s DigitalHD release, directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed the snap, which caused half of the universe to perish, permanently damaged Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet.
“See there, with his Gauntlet and the arm, the power that it takes to use all six Stones is significant, and clearly damaged the Gauntlet and damaged Thanos permanently,” Joe Russo said, discussing one of the final scenes in the movie.
We will have to wait until Avengers 4 is out before we know the extent of all of the damage.
