Anderson .Paak released the second single from Oxnard.
After dropping the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Tints,” the Aftermath signee dropped the Dr. Dre produced “Who R U?”
The Malibu rapper spoke about collaborating with Dre on his debut album.
“One of the most amazing, hardest, funnest, happiest, saddest times in my life,” .Paak told Beats 1 of Oxnard. “Just so many different experiences. I’m just so grateful and blessed to make this record with [Dre]. It’s my best work.”
Oxnard follows his 2016 indie releases—his solo record Malibu and Yes Lawd! The album features appearances from J. Cole, Pusha-T, Q-Tip, Snoop Dogg, and Dre, who serves as executive producer.
“I feel like ambition is missing from today’s music,” .Paak said in a recent interview. “This is the album I dreamed of making in high school, when I was listening to [Jay-Z]’s The Blueprint, The Game’s The Documentary, and [Kanye West’s] The College Dropout.”
